2ND REVOLUTION - [VIDEO/ACTION FOR VIOLET CITY]

[[Today is a fairly pleasant day in Violet City, so Page has taken advantage of the good weather to head outside and train her Pokemon a little. She's found, however, that over the past few weeks she's developed a few questions that she can't seem to find good answers for, so she's decided to....well, ask the 'feed', as it were. It took her a little while to work up the courage and to remind herself that she's not a wanted criminal here, but even so, it's....well. Slightly uncomfortable, but if this is how people communicate in this place, she'd better get used to it.

She's standing in an area on the outskirts of the city, the rustic buildings of Violet City in the background. The camera is surprisingly steady, obviously being held by one of her larger Pokemon.]]

I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me with my query.

[[When she speaks, her eyes find the camera, but once she's finished she immediately looks to the side, obviously not that comfortable with the whole experience. She's used to giving speeches; rather good speeches! But she's also used to have a tangible audience, so the fact that all she has to focus on is...well, her Gear, is bemusing her somewhat. But she'll get used to it. She's gotten used to worse.]]

Do any of you have experience with raising one of these?

[[Almost on cue, an Eevee scampers up her body and sits on her shoulder, staring into the camera with serious eyes matching those of his trainer.]]

I've done a bit of research and found that he can evolve into one of seven different things; which did you choose? What was the reason? Was it worth it, or do you regret your choice? I've heard evolution is irreversible, so I want to make sure my decision is the right one.

[[Another slightly awkward look to the side, before she faces the camera once more and nods her head slightly.]]

I appreciate your time. Thank you.

[[With a look to the Pokemon holding the camera, the feed is cut.]]

[Hello, Page.

Say hello to the guy with eleven Eeveelutions, all of whom are currently swarming around him where he sits on his very nice couch. Between two Umbreons, two Espeons, two Flareons, and one each of all the others including Eevee itself, it's practically a circus of relevant to your interests up in here.]

You might say I have some experience with them, yes. Though not entirely by choice.

[SO DRY.]

That said, I'd be happy to try to answer any questions you might have, based on my...ah, familiarity with them.

[Don't worry Page, you're not the only one who finds this whole "talking into the 'Gear" thing to be ridiculous! That said, Logan actually does have some useful information for you today! He's been spending most of his time doing research (since Goldenrod is kind of the perfect place for Barry and Reaver to go questing for... hookers or whatever it is they're up to), so he can actually kind of answer the question!]

I suppose it depends on what other types you have in your team. Eevee is capable of evolving into a Fire-type, Water-type, Electric-type, Psychic-type, Dark-type, Grass-type, and Ice-Type. The majority of them can be obtained by using a stone on Eevee - those stones can be bought for a high price in Goldenrod. The other two - Espeon and Umbreon, the Psychic- and Dark-types - can only be obtained with a high enough friendship.

[Logan slouches in his chair a bit, tapping his fingers on the armrest of the chair he's sitting in as he thinks. After a moment, a Vulpix jumps up into his lap and makes herself at home. He seems rather uncomfortable with her presence, and finally picks her up and sets her back on the ground. She slinks off after a moment, clearly upset that her trainer still won't pick her up. Meanie.]

I don't know what types you already have on your team and I haven't raised an Eevee myself, so I'm afraid that's all the advice I can offer. I do hope you figure something out, Page.

One question for you: where did you get the Eevee?

[Because it has the potential to not suck unlike the rest of his Pokemon.]

[Look on his works and despair.

And by "his works", I mean...he only ever wanted the one and then the rest just kind of happened, whoops.]

Then I'm pleased to be of some service to you.

[Hang on, he's just going to shove down a curious Jolteon here—]

That one is — ah, just a moment, please. No, Loki, get down, and leave Napoleon — I'm sorry, please excuse me.

[PUTTING DOWN GEAR. SHOVING INCESSANTLY. When he returns, there's an Espeon snuggled into his lap.]

I do apologize. As I was saying, this is Lady. She was my first, and remains by far my favorite.

[Oh, thanks, Page. Thanks for reveling in his misfortune here. Jesus Christ all these Eevees what is his life.

Lady, as per usual, wastes no time in sticking her face right up close to the camera; she's long since learned what it means when her trainer holds the gear up to use video in this manner, and it's her solemn duty to investigate whatever hussy person might be on the other end talking to her darling.]

That's right. Of all of them, I've found her by far the most rewarding. Also the most difficult at times, but I was once told by a junior of mine that she seems to fit my personality like a glove, and I've considered her the most faithful of all my companions since my arrival here.

[Despite the fact that she's not his starter. Also taking into consideration the fact that if he doesn't praise her in sufficient quantities, she'll bite his hand in half. But he does love her, really.

Meanwhile, he's just going to pan the camera over the rest of the Eeveelutions while he elaborates.]

I'd originally intended for Lady to be a Jolteon as a better complement to my roster, but as I'm sure you know, Eevees evolve into Espeon as a matter of will, without the need for an evolutionary stone. So she rather circumvented my plans with her own, in that respect. These six are her progeny — that is, the Leafeon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, Jolteon, Eevee, and the smaller of the two Flareons. For the ease of simplicity, I let them choose their own evolutions as well, and in that respect I do believe they chose based on their personalities, to some extent. The others I inherited; the larger of the Umbreons is Lady's mother, and the other three are surrogates of sorts. The Flareon was already evolved when I inherited him, but the last two were Eevees, and like Lady, they chose their evolutions — one into Espeon, like her, and the other into Umbreon, I presume to be a Dark type like her father.

[Sh-shut up, it was not adorable!!]

Yes, they're all in the department store here, but I'd suggest waiting a bit before making the trip to Goldenrod. Reaver and Barry are here with me.

[And the last thing he needs is for them to get in a fight. You guys make it so difficult to keep the Albionites safe okay!!]

Ah, so you purchased them as eggs then.

[...Welp. There goes his plans of getting one. He still hasn't hatched that Dratini egg he got at the very start of his journey.]

There are plenty of books here with information about the different Eevee evolutions. Would you like me to send you one?

[He's just looking out for his citizens, okay. It's not like he actually kind of respects you and approved of you standing up to Reaver like that.]

[Wryly, he pans the camera over to the Leafeon and Vaporeon; the latter flicks his tail in a vaguely grumpy fashion, while the Leafeon just kind of preens.]

As I recall, Napoleon — that is, the Vaporeon — was initially aiming for the stone that would turn him into a Leafeon. Mithras had other ideas. He also evidently inherited his mother's penchant for kicking the unruly ones in the head.

[What, did you think that the changeover was a peaceful process? Hell, no, that shit was a brawl.]

I found it simplest to present all the possible options to them at once and simply let them duke it out for which one they wanted. I certainly didn't want to end up with six Glaceons, so regulating the availability of evolutions seemed like the most prudent compromise between our mutual interests. And, of course, there was always the option to do as Leonidas did and simply not evolve, or to wait for another opportunity. Though he's seemed quite content to remain as an Eevee thus far.

I wouldn't doubt that someone has done it before. I prefer a bit more specialization in my lineup, though.

[Classy guy covered in cute things. What's not to love.]

Not in the least. I only ever intended to have Lady. The rest came about through...ah, happenstance. And the fact that upon breeding, Lady turned out to be rather disinclined to permit me to give away her children, assuming I wanted to retain full use of my hands.

[She threatened his TENNIS HAND, man. His TENNIS HAND.]

I never meant to imply that you were afraid of them. I simply don't want you all getting into a fight.

[But yes, he'll give you all the books if it means you'll avoid fighting with Reaver and Barry!!! Though you can insult them all day long as far as he's concerned!! \o/ ]

I'm not doing this out of pity. I'm already here, why not share the resources I already have available?

[Really, this isn't as difficult as you're making it out to be, Page...]

I'll have my Staraptor deliver it to you. She shouldn't take too long to get there.

[She can't use Fly, but she should be able to carry a book, right? ...Right?? C'mon Quartz, you're the only non-fail member of his team, don't let him down now!!]

Honestly, if it were me, I'd go with whatever yours wants to evolve into. I mean, Jiji just evolved by himself one night, and Sion let Jina pick out the stone he wanted, and both of them ended up happy. I'll probably bring Jiru by the display some time and let her pick, when she's a bit older...

["Vee?" And here's a baby Eevee jumping up onto Ryner's lap, because gosh, she heard her name, that means she's being talked about.]

Since it is permanent, I think it would be best to make sure they're happy with it, you know?

[Well he does have eleven but he has three so that makes him kind of experience with them right?? Though it's only two who are with him right now, a Flareon and an Espeon who are busy sunning themselves on the window sill.]

The elements of an Eevee's evolutions are dark, fire, psychic, water, electric, ice, and grass-- to be honest, I never chose what my Eevees would be. They chose for themselves what they wanted. For example, my Flareon chose the fire stone I presented to her, but her clutchmate, the Espeon, spurned all of the other stones I had in favor of evolving on his own. My first Eevee in fact evolved without any prompting from me, becoming an Umbreon.

I believe it's as much their decision as it is yours. You should try and see what your Eevee thinks first.

[Like Hope, Lightning has fewer than eleven Eeveelutions, but she's seen enough of them to know how this works. That and the Espeon and Eevee she inherited gave her quite the class in how they work.]

You're better off letting him decide. The Goldenrod Department store sells the stones they need to evolve, so taking him there may give you some idea of what he wants.

[A sigh. He's not going to explain everything - she'd think he's crazy after all - but he can at least offer her some explanation.]

I haven't always been a tyrant, Page. I'll admit, I've never been a great ruler, but things have only worsened in the past four years. It was through necessity that I started acting this way. I... can't explain it; the situation is something nearly unbelievable, but I promise you, everything I did, I did it to preserve Albion.

I don't have to worry about that here. I don't have to be a tyrant and I don't have a country to protect. I'm the same as everyone else here. It's... it's almost a relief, actually.

[He falls silent for a moment after that.]

I have no quarrel with you personally, so I see no reason to fight with you.

Ah, you have a Kangaskhan? I've been interested in those for quite some time, but I've never had the opportunity to acquire one of my own before. I gather that must be your starter, then? As far as I know, they aren't available in the wild anywhere except in the Safari Zone.

[So many smiles, Page-san...]

And yes, they're certainly all unique. I suppose it's fair to say their temperaments did shape their evolutions somewhat, but even dealing with all of them as Eevees, they were still very distinct individuals En masse one couldn't tell them apart, naturally, but separately, it was easier to guess. Much the same way that one might see the subtle differences in twins, I suppose.
