Name: Page
Age: She has no official age, but I put her at 23.
Canon: Fable III
History: Here, complete with an atrocious picture! I will be using that "Early Life" backstory from Blood Ties in her characterisation, as it's the only ~canon backstory we have for her (and I rather quite like it, all things considered - the backstory, that is, not Blood Ties, which is kind of shit).
Canon Point: At the conclusion of the Weight of the World quests, but before the Crawler attack. All judgements made in favour of Reaver/Evil affliation.
Basic alignment: LAWFUL GOOD TO THE EXTREME.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+Selfless - Everything Page does is for the benefit of other people rather than herself; her main aim is to free the people of the kingdom from forced labour and poverty. Benefits for herself don't really come into her mentality at all, and even once the game is concluded, you can find her down in Bowerstone Industrial, working on fixing one thing or another.
+Kindhearted - Page does everything she can to prevent the city's children being forced to work in the factories and experience a childhood like the one she had. She wants them to be educated and provided with the oppurtunity to grow and live their lives the way they want. She is also the only person who wants the tyrant King Logan spared from execution; even though her main motivation is to ensure the new ruler shows that they are different from him, it's still a very kind thing to do considering all the cruelty he's inflicted on the very people she's fighting for. She also saves the life of the Hero by shooting a creature about to attack them, despite only knowing the Hero for a short amount of time and still not being sure whether or not they are a spy.
+Focused - Her entire life revolves around the resistance and her goal regarding overthrowing Logan and the current laws in Albion, to the point where even those not under her command come to her for a plan and strategy, since chances are she's got something worked out, and if not, she'll think of something rather quickly.
+/-Doesn't trust easily - While lacking trust can be a negative thing, in Page's position it's important that she doesn't just trust any old person that approachs the resistance. It's in the eye of the beholder.
+/-Stubborn - Again, stubbornness isn't necessarily a bad thing, depending on the intensity of it. Page's dedication to her way of thinking can either be seen as admirably focused or aggressively pigheaded.
-Sharp - Page isn't one for small talk and dislikes wasting time on idle conversation. She also tends to be sarcastic and almost needlessly nasty when she's not interested in what the other person is saying, which doesn't make the most pleasant person to talk to.
-Workaholic - Even though her focus on her work is admirable, saying that Page's entire life revolves around the resistance and her goal isn't an exagguration. It's the very core of her being.
-Gruff - When you first meet Page she can come across as overly harsh or serious, and won't make that good of a first impression, particularly if she's working on something or you strike her as a threat to her revolution. However, as you get to know her she reveals that she's actually quite capable of being a pleasant person to be around, and will even compliment you quite often if she feels you deserve it.
Skills and Abilities:
Strategy
Page's main and most treasured talent is her gift with strategy. As the leader of the rebels, she's the one responsible for all of their plans and actions, and takes great joy in plotting them. She's incredibly fastidious and seems to devote every second of her time to studying the map, her mind flying all over the place as she fits her pieces together in new and cunning ways. When her band is plotting their coup, in order to storm the castle, she's the one who comes up with the plan of attack, even though there are plenty of older and more experienced people who have joined them throughout the plot. Her plan is successful - the castle is taken and the tyrant king dethroned. She also plotted a distraction for when the main character had to sneak out of the city via sea - by blowing up some of the ships in the docks and setting them alight. She does, however, occasionally allow her emotions to influence her decisions, usually at her detriment; when a group of her men raid the mansion of the city's sadistic and exploitative industrial boss (Reaver) and don't come back, instead of plotting a careful stealth rescue mission, she grabs the Hero/main character and crashes a party, barging right in with her weapons drawn and fury in her eyes. Needless to say, she was completely expected and almost lost her life when Reaver gleefully tossed her and the main character into a pit of monsters. Oh, and all her men were dead, too. Regardless of this, however, Page is fantastic at plans - just not when her emotions are involved.
Gunmanship
While she wouldn't say it's her favourite talent, Page is a rather good shot - she manages to hit an attacking balverine (think a werewolf/wolverine type of creature) square in the face after it surprises her and her companion, without needing time to aim properly. She's also able to send a bullet right towards the forehead of a villain tormenting the two of them from up high (he blocks it, but that's. not the point.). She's not the sort to whip her pistol out needlessly, and tends to make every bullet count.
Resilience/spirit/determination
Page has had a rather horrid life, filled with loss, hunger and desperation. Despite all this, she's bounced back every single time fate has decided to throw something at her, usually with more determination than ever. Every person she has ever cared about has been taken away in one way or another; her mother died of illness, her older brother was killed before her eyes in a factory accident, and her caretakers at the monastery were all murdered, leaving her the only one left. Her resistance movement is hunted like rats and forced to live (...like rats) in the sewer system of the city, her attempts to strike back at Reaver's cruelty only serves to amuse him and leave her numbers depleted, and she's forced to watch as the tyrant king she's fighting to defeat only grows more and more powerful. However, she never gives up, every loss only serving to make her all the more determined to win, to try again, to not let this take her down. Even if the player chooses the 'evil' path in the game, which means that everything she wants to do to help the cities people is ignored in favour of things that just make it all the more worse for them, at the end of the game she'll be down in the city, working on trying to improve things in any way she can. If there's one thing that Page is spectacularly good at, it's never giving up.
Preferred Role:
Honestly, anything related to battle will satisfy her, but these would be the top two:
#1 Tactician
#2 Active Combatant
Sample:
There was a lot to like about the advanced world of the Shimmer, but Page's favourite part - as she had expected - was the weapons. They were why she was here, after all, how she'd been convinced to leave the rapidly decaying Bowerstone behind; were she to assist this mysterious government with its mysterious problem, she could have her pick to take home.
Her favourite of the favourites was the Ak-47. It didn't so much hit the wooden practice targets as it decimated them, leaving only shapeless splinters clattering to the floor once the round was emptied.
This morning was no different; another day, another dedicated period of practice. The kickback from the AK-47 had taken some getting used to but Page was now finding herself dulled to it. The sheer satisfaction she earned from watching the gun tear through anything she pointed it at more than compensated for any pain or bruises. It made her best musket look like a child's toy. She had no complaint about the modern hearing protection she had to wear, either.
Today's target was another of those wooden silhouettes, but with a slight difference; having acquired a 'marker pen' (another fantastic invention - she'd already stockpiled three packets for her return trip to Albion), Page had made some modifications. The head now bore exaggerated eyebrows, partially obscured by a thick fringe, and a small heart had been added under where the left eye would be. She was no artist, but that didn't matter. She knew who it was. The AK-47 was armed and cocked in mechanical, practised movements.
Page smiled, raised her new favourite weapon up to her shoulder, and slid the safety to full automatic fire.
The magazine was emptied in seconds, her aim focused directly on where she'd modified the target. It had been left neatly beheaded. While she was satisfied, Page's smile had shifted to a determined grimace, as she slung the AK-47 over her shoulder and looked over at the remnants of her make-believe enemy.
"Let's see if you can stop these bullets."
